Thought of You

I just found out that beautiful piece of animation on YouTube. It is very simply executed, but the quality of the work is unbelievable.

Project Failure

Here is a perfect example of how badly (and publicly) a project can fail. Something as popular and expensive as an iPhone can even fall flat. The following video shows how Steve Jobs has to recover and rely on his presenting skills to get past the fact that the connection fails twice!

Teamwork

I found this clip (again with the Youtube!) that shows a really interesting and unique approach to teamwork. It just goes to show what can be achieved with a lot of patience, hard work and working together to create something special!

Here is a clip I found on Youtube that is a funny approach to achieving our time management goals! It's message is clear and the way it's presented makes it sink in a little bit more...at least in my case it does :)

Gantt Chart Tutorial

I found a really useful tutorial on how to make a decent Gantt Chart! I will definitely be using this to help make our teams time management easier.

It's quite a long video in terms of a clip but it has lots of useful hints that are well worth taking note of!

Mary & Max - Official Trailer

Here is the trailer for the new animated film Mary & Max. Craig asked us all to check this film out as not only is it a highly polished animation with a great story, but the camera flow throughout the whole film is really interesting and relevant for our editing classes.

The animation style is amazing ~ really captivating and makes you want to find out what will appear next. I haven't had the chance to see the movie the whole way through myself yet, but I definitely will go to see it!

Lotte Reiniger and "The Adventures of Prince Achmed"

Just the other day, when I was at lectures at the morning, our group was shown a fragment of one very special and very nicely done movie - "The Adventures of Prince Achmed".
This piece of animation was shot at 1926, by a german director named Lotte Reiniger. The whole thing was made by her with paper cut-outs. What I find amazing about that movie is the way the cut-outs flow so efortlessly an easily. The music and the background colour contribute for creating an amazing ambience and the Audience just sinks into the movie. Granted, it may not look like much in todays standards, but it is still an amazing piece of work, made with lo-fi materials, and a lot of love.
Finally, here's a bit from the actual movie. For 84 years it has lost none of it's beauty:

Media City Trailer

I found a cute clip on YouTube promoting the the up and coming arrival of Media City. I think the clip is really nice ~ and it's exciting to know that we will be part of it from next year! Media City will offer many great future opportunities for hopeful animators like ourselves.

Job Opportunities ~ Manchester

I have been researching job opportunities in the North West area that might be of interest in our chosen field of animation. I found the following link to a Junior Flash Designer post in Manchester:
http://www.ukjobs.net/job-2598882-jo4Oi.html

This sounds like it would be a nice place to start off from ~ working as part of a team and have your work exposed not only through different agencies but also through different fields of the industry like:

"Creative, Technical, Production, Client Services, Project Management, Media Planning & Buying, Search Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Mobile Marketing, Sales, Senior Management"

I'll continue researching different agencies, companies and independent studios outside of London that can offer undergraduates like ourselves to gain more experience
